Paradigm at the AfricaCom 2023

23 November, 2023

The sheer volume of delegates from all corners of the world was a testament to AfricaCom 2023’s global impact and significance.

The experts delved into cutting-edge topics and ongoing industry matters, sharing invaluable insights into strategies for bridging the digital divide in Africa, the identified need for an investment of $428 billion in infrastructure verticals to meet Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 and the ever-increasing importance of cybersecurity in our rapidly accelerating digital world.

2023 has seen a significant rise in cyberattacks globally, impacting businesses, governments, and individuals alike. This underscores the urgent need for robust cybersecurity measures across all industry sectors.

A standout session by Rand Merchant BankĀ focused on AI’s transformative role in Africa. The panellists highlighted Africa’s unique position to leapfrog developed nations by leveraging global experiences and harnessing the continent’s youthful dynamism. This approach aims to foster innovative, Africa-centric solutions. The event stressed the crucial role of sustainable foundational development in propelling Africa and its people towards enduring success.

Vodacom showcased its use of AI in analysing over 25,000 data points from customer behaviour at each telecom site. This data-driven approach enables targeted investments in power, network upgrades, and service quality, ensuring optimal user experience and strategic allocation of resources in high-demand areas.

Panel discussions shed light on angel investing and VC funding in Africa. Experts highlighted the potential of young start-ups and technological innovations in Africa as one of the continent’s most rapidly growing and profitable sectors. The final day underscored the necessity for robust and sustainable telecommunication solutions to support local communities, especially considering Africa’s rapidly expanding youth population.

The conference was immensely informative, it was a joy reconnecting with industry peers, our trusted vendor community and meeting new players who may in the future play a key role in Paradigm’s expansion efforts and we are excited to continue our strategic goal of extending connectivity across Africa.
